Timing out on login?

When I go to connect, the load bar screen sits on "Validating Game Resources" until it times out. Anybody have any idea why?

you have downloaded a corrupted file, consult your console for more information.

when you attempt to connect and it does what you describe, you are stuck with a file that failed a consistency check, cancel the connection and open your console with the tilde key (~) to find out which file is corrupted or failed a CRC check (you should be given a path to the file failing the check)
