Title: Accuracy question
Post by: onslaught on December 31, 2019, 05:36:32 AM
What numbers are too high before someone might suspect foul play? I wonder what these numbers mean if anything at all, because I have never seen such high accuracies.

I usually look around the 50% mark, as that is where we start to question to difference between skill and cheats.

Keep in mind i mean overall accuracy. What you see below is his accuracy just while using that exact name. His overall is just below 50, so we'll keep an eye open.

Yeah, that makes sense. The overall didn't stand out to me, it was those odd times where he was getting around 100%. Someone suggested it could be that he was playing a lot of spy which maybe would skew the accuracy ratings (with the gas grenade / knife kills).

High accuracy for short periods is not that difficult, especially if you are making a conscious effort.  It is therefore more relevant to look at a players overall accuracy ignoring players who haven't had much time on the server.  When you do that, you will see mostly familiar players - Robocop aka McGruber (with an insane 60% accuracy, killshot aka ado, why u priming, Dai aka Defiler, linkz, BuckNa$ty, MediumQ.  They are all good players who have been around TFC a long time. Is it possible some of them are cheating?  Sure.  They could be toggling cheats, but if they were they probably would have been caught by now.  Many if not all of these players have had many demos reviewed and with no conclusive evidence of cheating.  Of course getting proof is hard with good players as they have high skill and good instincts - which can also breed more than their fair share of luck.  If you have any suspect demos, please submit and they will be reviewed.

I didn't realise people could cheat in this game, that is disappointing, especially for a life noob.
