Back at home for the holidays and my old rig here is a Core 2 Duo 2.8ghz, 4gb ram, and a GeForce 8400GS. Not the newest rig, but certainly should be getting at least 60fps on tfc.

I'm running Linux Mint Mate 18 and am getting around 40-45fps. Anyone else here playing on Linux? If so, any tweaks that can be recommended to get a better frame rate?

You should sacrifice resolution and graphics so you get at least 100fps.

- Lower your resolution
- Click the checkbox under 'options' for low quality video

There are more tweaks.  It would be helpful if you listed your rate and graphics related settings.
